Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell is an American TV personality who is a chef, and a ex-teacher at the Institute of Culinary Education. She hosts Secrets of a Restaurant Chef on the Food Network and the co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, a Food Network host who has spiky blond hair and an ebullient personality, explains how to cook restaurant-style dishes at home, using easy methods. Chef Burrell was a student and worked in some of the most prestigious New York restaurants. He also battled Iron Chef America and the cuisine of Italy. As a child in the upstate of New York, Chef Burrell developed a passion for cooking and eating in her early years. Following her graduation with an English and Communications degree in Canisius College in Buffalo NY she pursued her interest in the restaurant business by enrolling in The Culinary Institute of America. She states "I enjoyed being a Culinary Institute of America student. I was awed by every moment." The Culinary Institute of the Americas was a fantastic opportunity to pursue a degree. After graduation, chef Burrell went on to spend one year in Italy attending an Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners and working in La Taverna del Lupo in Umbria as well as La Bottega del 30 a one-Michelin star restaurant in Tuscany. While in Italy she came to be aware of the philosophies behind Italian food and culture that has had a profound impact from a culinary viewpoint. Burrell has been a member of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board that aims to make a difference in the lives of kids facing problems. Additionally, she is an Juvenile Research Foundation celebrity ambassador which promotes education about juvenile diabetes. In her capacity as a guest speaker and mentor Burrell travels throughout the U.S. to share her culinary passion and professional career. Anne always felt fortunate that she had the opportunity to share her love of her life, and her passion for cooking, with people around the world.
